Steven Shaw was a James Beard Award-winning food critic, and the author of Turning the Tables and Asian Dining Rules (both HarperCollins/William Morrow). Starting with his Fat Guy newsletter (a blog before there were blogs) and leading through his creation of the phenomenally successful eGullet website, he was a pioneer for food writing online. He contributed to The New York Times Op-Ed page, Saveur magazine, Crain’s New York Business, Food Arts, Food & Wine, Cooking Light, Elle and many other publications. He taught food writing at the French Culinary Institute and was a featured speaker at the 92nd Street Y, Smithsonian Institution and International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) conferences. Food & Wine named him one of the 35 most fearsome young talents in food, and his work has been a Best Food Writing selection many times over.
